The smother box sells on two things: the size of the opening, and whether the thing racks when weight goes on it. Ours is built as a rigid floor-panel box rather than an upholstered stool on legs, which is the reason it does not — the load path goes straight to the floor.
The opening is a large oval cut-out in the centre front, finished with black leather trim and rivets. The top is padded in leather. There are no legs and no visible joinery from the front, which is why it photographs like a piece of furniture rather than a product.
We build to your drawing: opening size and position, trim material and colour, and whether the top is padded or leather-tensioned.
